Robert Kayihura - Founding Director, and Chairman of the Board
Robert was born in Kampala, Uganda. In 1982 he and his family moved to Sweden, and immigrated to the United States in 1984. Robert received a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Brigham Young University and his juris doctorate from the University Of Washington School Of Law.
While still in law school, Robert was selected as an intern with the Office of the United States Trade Representative. There he was exposed to a wide range of issues related to U.S.-Africa trade relations including the implementation of the landmark African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA). Upon graduation from law school, Robert was a recipient of the prestigious Bonderman Fellowship. As a Bonderman Fellow, Robert spent five months traveling throughout Eastern and Southern Africa researching successful examples of U.S.-Africa trade relations.
Robert firmly believes that innovation and trade in goods and services is the only viable strategy for Africa’s economic and social development.
